Sofia hosts the seventh China-Central and Eastern European countries’ summit, known as the 16+1 format, on July 6-7.
China’s Prime Minister, Li Keqiang, will meet his Bulgarian counterpart, Boyko Borissov, the leaders of ten other Central and Eastern European states and of five Balkan states – Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Albania.
Around 250 Chinese businesses and representatives of 700 European companies are expected to attend an economic forum that will take place alongside the summit.
The Sofia summit takes place just weeks ahead of the larger EU-China Summit in Beijing.
There, the two sides are expected to take a stand on arguably the largest issue facing the global economy – the protectionist trade policies of US President Donald Trump.
