As Hungary adopts bills penalising organisations that help migrants and refugees, the Hungarian Foreign Minister from the ruling Fidesz party, told BIRN that Hungary is an “anti-migration” country.
Szijjarto, 39, says the issue of migrants and refugees is at the top of Hungary’s agenda when it comes to relations with its neighbours, along with the position and status of Hungarians living in the region.
The foreign minister praised relations with Serbia under President Aleksandar Vucic, but said that relations with Croatia remained “poisoned” by the dispute over the Croatian energy company INA.
