Ant McPartlin’s estranged wife Lisa Armstrong has shown her support for Declan Donnelly’s announcement he is expecting his first child.
Lisa, who split from Dec’s presenting partner earlier this year, ‘liked’ the star’s Twitter post on Sunday evening which confirmed he is expecting a baby with wife Ali Astall.
Among the 130,000 likes on the post was Lisa’s, which comes after her estranged husband entered a treatment facility for drink and prescription drugs for a second time following his arrest for drink driving a week ago.
Last year both Ant and Dec confessed in an interview that they were hoping to start families, but while Lisa and Ant announced they were divorcing earlier this year, Dec and Ali confirmed their happy news on Sunday.
The presenter, 42, confirmed the news in a brief statement published on social media platform Instagram on Sunday evening.
Sharing a black and white image from his 2015 wedding to Ali, 40, he wrote: ‘Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely messages.
The news has sneaked out a little earlier than we had hoped but Ali and I are delighted to be expecting our first child. Thanks for all the love, we really appreciate it.’
Earlier that day Declan was seen out and about in London, hours after it was reported that Ali is pregnant.
The TV star was seen returning to his home, dressed casually in jeans and a baseball cap during what has been the most turbulent weeks of his career.
Reports of their growing family comes hot on the heels of Dec preparing to host Saturday Night Takeaway solo next weekend, in light of presenting partner Ant McPartlin heading to rehab following his recent drink-drive arrest.
Just hours before The Sun reported that the couple, who wed in 2015, are ‘delighted to be expecting – especially since they have been trying for some time.’
It is alleged that the couple first learnt they were pregnant soon after Dec left the Australian jungle after the last series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Oh Here! finished in December.
‘They have been keeping the pregnancy a closely guarded secret, but now that Ali is safely over 12 weeks, they are starting to let people know,’ it is claimed of the happy news, with the source quickly adding that they have told ‘key people at ITV’.
Ali has reportedly told her close colleagues and will be stepping away from work commitments to ‘look after herself’ and to enjoy an ‘easy’ pregnancy.
‘They have both always wanted a family but worried that it might not happen for them.’
A representative for Dec and Ali refused to comment on the claims when approached by MailOnline.
