A Kosovo court found seven men guilty of organising and participating in terrorist groups and illegally possessing weapons, sentencing them to a total of more than 17 years in prison.
Pristina Basic Court on Tuesday convicted seven people of organising and participating in terrorist groups and unauthorised possession of weapons.
Artan Kadriu was sentenced to four years in prison; Besim Shabani, Egzon Latifi and Bekim Halili to three years each, and Adil Bushi and Jetmir Bushi to two years and four months each.
Kujtim Bytyqi, who was charged with unauthorised weapons possession, was given an eight-month suspended sentence.
An eighth defendant, Jeton Hajdini, was acquitted due to the lack of evidence.
However, none of the accused will serve their sentences until the decision is upheld by the Appeals Court.
Eleven suspects were originally charged. The procedure against two of them, Hadi Nura and Zijadin Berisha, was separated from the others during the trial, and both remain on the run.
The other suspect, Betim Ibrahimaj, has not appeared in court and his family claims he was killed in Syria.
