Most politicians’ wives in Bosnia and Herzegovina remain firmly in their husbands’ shadows, all but unknown to the general public.
Not Sebija Izetbegovic, however. She finds herself in the media spotlight almost as much as – and sometimes more than – her husband.
Bakir Izetbegovic is the Bosniak member of the country’s state presidency and also leader of the ruling Bosniak Party of Democratic Action, SDA.
As the SDA starts preparing its list of candidates for the general elections due in October, several local SDA chapters have put up her name for the post of Bosniak member of Bosnia’s tripartite presidency.
