Milorad Dodik’s numerous meetings with Vladimir Putin and his frequent visits to Russia have long consolidated his image in Bosnia’s mainly Serbian entity, Republika Srpska, as Russia’s great ally.
But some older voters may remember a time when the RS President sang a different tune, was vocally pro-Western, and took a very different approach towards Bosnia and its future. Dodik has undergone a political transformation since he entered the political scene back in 1990.
Then, Dodik entered Bosnia’s parliament as an MP for the long defunct Union of Reform Forces of Yugoslavia.
