Broadway star Ruthie Ann Miles loses daughter, 4, after being hit by car

The four-year-old daughter of Broadway star Ruthie Ann Miles has been killed after being hit by a car. The 34-year-old actress, best known for her role as Lady Thiang in The King Of I, was crossing the street in Brooklyn, New York with her daughter Abigail, her friend Lauren Lew, and Lew’s one-year-old son Joshua when a driver ran a red light and struck them. Abigail and Joshua were both killed in the accident. Ruthie, who is pregnant, is recovering in hospital and is in a stable condition, while her unborn baby is ‘doing well’, according to her agent Dustin Flores.

Lauren Lew is also in a stable condition after being injured in the accident, which occured on 5 March. Another person, a 46-year-old man, was also hit by the car. According to the New York Daily News, Dorothy Bruns, 44, was driving the car, and was battling various health problems, including multiple sclerosis. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez told the newspaper: ‘We believe that she had a seizure. ‘It’s a real tragedy, but we have to make sure that this woman should have been driving in the first place.’ A host of Ruthie’s Broadway colleagues and peers have shared their condolences on social media.
